Music

Ever since I was just a little kid, I've been surrounded by music.
My father used to play the drums with Ringebu Musikkforening. When I grow to the appropiate age (8 or 9 years old), I joined Ringebu Skolekorps, where I played the trumpet. Later, when moving to Oslo for army duty and school, I joined the Ringebu Musikkforening, playing drums (because then I didn't have to practise too much...)

I've also spent years playing in several Rock 'N Roll (well....) bands.
First, at school together with two friends, I played The Blue Sky. Two trumpets and one drum, we had only one gig, in my parents basement.

Then at secondary school, together with three friends, I played in The Crash for four years. I used to play the rythm and lead guitars.
After this, the next band was Silence, which existed for a couple of years.
Then for some years, school, cars, work and family took most of my time. Until 2000, when an old friend and I decided to get some guys together. Since then we have played together from time to time, covering big artists, and playng at small and medium sized dance-parties and family/friends' parties. The name of this band changes from time to time, the present name is The Plingers. Our longest - and heaviest - name was 'The Concrete Factory Band and the Horny Horn Section who arised from Hell in the Basement'....

The Plingers, or Frokostklubben (The Breakfast Club) as we called ourselves in 2002.
From left to right; Stein Kuvaas (gutar), me (bassguitar and song), Stian Norlöff (leadguitar, organ, mouth harmonica and song) and Ove Arntzen (drums and lead-singer)

For this performance we had hired Ragnhild, a local female singer, to perform four of our songs.

Besides playing myself, I've spent most of my life listen to - and collecting regalias concerning - the Beatles. This is, from my point of view, the greatest pop-band of all times. Not only for their fantastic music, but also for the influences they have had to modern pop-music, for making people accepting their kind of music, for their impact of the sixties, for experiencing with 'strange' music instrumentes - and for still being one of the worlds best selling band! And; for still making young children their fans ;-)

These days I don't have too much time listening to - and reading about - the Fab Four. Spending most of my days in front of a computer, I use to search for rare Beatles (and solo-Beatles) MP3 files around on the WEB. I don't know how many files I've got, but it is several gigabytes - enough for days of continous playing. I plan to make real music CD's one fine day, but guess that'll have to wait until many years from now...

I used to collect LP's; singles and EP's, books, dolls, videofilms, clips from magazines, posters, tea-mugs etc, but now I have neither time nor space for it anymore. MP3 suits me just fine, but of course I still have my old Beatles collection safely stored.

I also have a 1965 Höfner violin bass, just like the one Paul McCartney used to play when with the Beatles. Guess this is the most famous bass in the world, everyone connects it with with Sir Paul.
