Noting new to report for long time; a bit disappointed
over the wrong colour.
But; finally mounted the last parts on the engine; oil
filter, camshaft bearing, water pump, and oilpressure- and water temperature
meters.
Now it is just to gather my strong friends and lift the
body onto the chassis. As we're going away for the rest of the Christmas
holidays, this won't happened until the start of January 2003.
Have a nice new years eve, all of you!

YES!!!!!
We made it before the winter, and did paint the car yellow!
Though not quite the correct yellow colour, we will give
the car a new spray with the correct colour next spring.

Finally the plastic thing start looking like a car again..
We have filled the body with spray filler, grinded and
filled again. And; now it is just before the final painting! Impatient
as I am, I've been waiting for this since beginning of June; now time
finally has come. To see pictures
of the latest progress, click here
During the last month I have also sold the MGB GT, an instead bought a
1961 Triumph Herald 1200 Saloon, converted to a Tristan Convertible.
The wife liked the car so much that I just had to buy it.
I also bought a 'new' Formula Ford, this time a 1983 Royale
RP36. This the wife didn't like, so the car was sold to
Sweden quickly... It had a quite interesting history though; it was
sold directly from the Royale factory in England to a racing shop
in the USA, then later imported to Sweden to be used at a formula
driving school. Then taken home to Norway in february 1989. After
the car was sold to Sweden, I found out that just this car was the
last Royale ever produced... Well; at least the wife is satisfied...

Well, long time - no job on the Europa? Not exactly.
I have done a lot of small things, mainly on the body. Has also taken
time to finish our boat project, and the 16ft day cruiser was put ashore
on june, 20th, just in time to make it to the mid-summer day (or; night...).
Together with a friend; Olav the ex-carpainter, I have
grinded and filled (well actually; he did the job, I was just looking...)
the front, roof and engine cover of the care.
A friend in Gjövik, a middle-sized norwegian town not too far away from me, has a S1 Europa ready for inspection, guess this will hurry me up a bit..

Had to move my site from Geocites.com, as people visiting
the site passed the allowed free download rate of 3GB/month - and
made Geocities close my site for the remaining of that month....
I hope this means that the site is popular, and that you
people like to read about my car - and the progress I (slowly) make...
Thank you to you all, folks ;-)
Easter vacation, 2002
Hmm, finally a lot of progress.
With the help from a friend I got the new renovated engine
and gearbox back in the chassis, and mounted the drive shafts and
lower link arms.
Now I'll have to teach myself how to fill, prime and paint
GRP. I have talked to a number of paint shops, but no one wants to
paint fibre glass. So; I better have to learn it by myself.
A couple of
pictures are here.

Well, gearbox finally back in the garage; though; I am
a bit worried. The old man fixing the 'box had some problem mounting
the inventory of the gearbox. As I had to buy a new gearbox, he had
to turn the crown wheel and pinion, but then they didn't fit into the
housing. So; he had to machine more room, as well as making the crown
wheel a little smaller. This resulted in the fact that the drive shaft
on one of the gearbox side is 5 mm closer to the housing than the other
side. As far as I can see, this will cause problems fitting the inboard
drive shaft. I guess I'll have to remove app 5 mm on the inboard drive
shaft to get to the hole for the locking pin...
However, with the gearbox back in the garage; I'm looking
forward to further progress with the car.
