Welcome to
Rubys' Garage

This page is dedicated to my 1936 Austin Seven Ruby, MK1

The car was brought home on June 14th, 2008, but I had been in contact with the seller via a common friend for months before buying it.
I know little about the cars history as of now, but the sellers’ father restored the car during the mid-90. He then moved to Sweden, bringing the car along.

The man died some time around 2000, and his son inherited the car. As the son also became serious ill, he never took the car into use, and it was stored in a friends garage. When his friend moved house, he needed the space, and the latest 3-4-5 years, the cars has been left standing outdoor, under a cover.

The paint is still in very good shape, and the engine turns over without problems.
I haven’t tried to start the car yet – so far the oil has been drained from the engine and gearbox.
The underneath of the car shows sign from surface rust, but this will quickly fixed.

The problem is the interior, which is pretty molded… I have washed the carpets with strong soap and a garden hose. At least they look clean, but I fear the smell is still there.

Though, carpets can be made with close to no costs.
The seats and roof, though… I cleaned the seats as good as I could, but I fear the mould has really gotten to them.
And the roof (a canvas sliding sunroof (stuck, of course)) has a lot of mould spots – how will I remove them (and the smell) without replacing the roof linings?

I’ll keep you updated as the progress towards a road running Seven continues.
For now, click on the picture link to see some photos of the car when we picked it up. Also, some old drawings from magazines and ads.

My car is chassis no 245411, and bodytype & -number# ARQ 34596. What is the difference betwwen the two numbers?
